For continuous operation without downtime, Boart Longyear offers a full selection of Water Swivels with a replaceable V-ring packing-style seal gland for standard drilling applications.

Water Swivel Features

  • Available in underground, compact, standard-duty, and heavy-duty versions, with appropriately sized spindle ports and an NPT side fluid supply connection. Spring-loaded, self-adjusting gland packings ensure a reliable seal.
  • Easily replaceable wear sleeves and spindle extensions protect the spindle from packing wear.
  • Weep holes prevent any leakage past the packing from reaching the bearing, and also indicate the packing condition to the operator.
  • Protected grease fitting to allow easy lubrication of bearings. Lubrication path conducts contaminants away from the bearing and relieves excess lubrication pressure.
  • Easily disassembled with pipe wrenches, a screw driver, a spanner wrench, and a soft mallet, for easy packing or wear sleeve or spindle extension.
  • Suitable for use with water or drilling mud only. Packings and mating wear sleeves are subject to wear and generally operate with a small degree of leakage depending on rpm and vibration levels.
  • Adapter Subs are available to adapt to Q™, RQ™, RQTK, HD, and XQ rods.

High-Speed Water Swivel

Overview

For continuous operation without downtime, Boart Longyear offers a full selection of High Speed Water Swivels with replaceable mechanical “end-face” seals, suited for high-rpm drills.

High-speed Water Swivel Features:

  • Available in sizes suited for wireline drill rods with an appropriately sized spindle, fluid porting, and a #12 JIC rear fluid supply connection.
  • Spring-loaded, self-adjusting, and self-aligning end-face seals absorb vibration at high rpm (OEM rated to 600 psi at 1800 rpm).
  • Weep holes prevent any leakage past the seal from reaching the bearing, and also indicate seal condition to the operator.
  • Protected grease fitting to allow easy lubrication of bearings. The lubrication path conducts contaminants away from the bearing and relieves excess lubrication pressure.
  • Easily disassembles with pipe wrenches, a screw driver, a spanner wrench, and a soft mallet, for easy seal or bearing replacement.
  • Suitable for use with water or drilling mud.
  • Mates directly to Q™, RQ™, RQTK, and XQ drill rods.
