Boart Longyear bits are optimized for best drilling results in a variety of ground conditions. Each design strikes a balance of flushing, gauge- and face-button wear, life, and rate-of-penetration.
More adaptable to different types of ground conditions, due to the different configurations of designs and buttons available.

Universal button for hard, abrasive to very abrasive ground.
25,000 to 45,000 PSI (170 to 300 MPa)
Parabolic / Semi-Ballistic Button
Medium, mildly abrasive ground.
Smaller contact area for fast penetration.
15,000 to 25,000 PSI (100 to 170 MPa)
Ballistic Button
Soft, non-abrasive ground types.
Suited for smaller diameter bits.
Smaller contact area for fast penetration.
10,000 to 20,000 PSI (70 to 140 MPa)
Conical Button
All non-abrasive ground types.
Smaller contact area for fast penetration.
Suited for smaller diameter bits (collar and tapered).
