LINK Latch™ underground system

The Original Link Latch Wireline System

In 2002, Boart Longyear adapted the Link Latch Q system to address the needs of the underground market, announcing the patented Quick Pump-In™ head assembly. This head assembly added a positive latch indication and removed the pump-in lip seal from the latch retracting case, eliminating latching concerns against in-ground fluid, gas pressure zones, and fluid evacuation or suction.

Trusted. Reliable. The Original.

MKII Spearhead

MKII Spearhead assembly consists of a redesigned spearpoint and spearhead body for 70% greater strength and safety, self-lubricated nylon material for extended wear and ease of maintenance, and a self-centering plunger for in-hole precision and fewer pinch points compared to older “knuckle head” designs.

Latch Indication

A fluid control valve provides a positive latch indication signal. This design improvement goes far beyond existing systems that only provide landing feedback – drill operators see a spike in drilling fluid pressure when a positive latch occurs.

Solid Oil Bearings

Optional Solid Oil Bearings can be installed in any direction, eliminate greasing, make maintenance much simpler, and prevent grease from contaminating the core sample.  Available as a kit with the grease port plug included.

Overshot Features and Functions

For maximum productivity in underground or pump-in applications, Boart Longyear offers the Quick Pump-In™ Overshot with ‘V-Lip’ pump-in seals, which provide significantly improved pump-in rates with dual pump-in lip seals and W-Wall compatibility. If using overshots in a straight wall rod, the original Quick Pump-in seals can also be used.

Locking Safety Pin

A new self-locking dual-ball detent-pin with a push-button unlock or release feature. The detent balls are driven by an internal shaft, which requires the spring-driven push-button to be depressed to remove the pin and then released when fully inserted (locked) to improve the pin’s effectiveness. Also, included is a 4cm (1-1/2”) wide x 13cm (5”) long canvas strap ‘safety flag’  to aid the management and application of safety devices in the field.

Auto-Reset Landing Indication

The optional Auto-Reset Landing bypass valve eliminates partial trips & false indications. Adding a spring to the steel ball, the new overshot automatically resets the ball if a snag is hit. The new configuration eliminates premature landing indication and the associated lost time.
